{"id":126,"date":"2012-04-06T07:45:25","date_gmt":"2012-04-06T11:45:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bellemeade-ky.gov\/?page_id=126"},"modified":"2020-01-13T14:59:14","modified_gmt":"2020-01-13T19:59:14","slug":"announcments-archive","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/bellemeade-ky.gov\/?page_id=126","title":{"rendered":"Announcements (Archive)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">** Our Mayor&#8230; **<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It is with tremendous sadness that I must tell everyone that our Mayor, John W Miller, passed away on Friday after a long battle with cancer.&nbsp; He leaves behind a legacy in the City of Bellemeade that will be hard for the rest of us to live up to.&nbsp; He served on the Bellemeade Commission for 7 years.&nbsp; He was a mentor to everyone on the Commission and continued to serve the city for as long as he was physically able. His guidance and leadership will be greatly missed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On a more personal note, I considered John a dear friend and he has done more to inspire my civic participation than any one else. John had a way of taking a complicated problem and breaking it down to its simplest pieces. He pushed me out of my comfort zone by setting a high standard and then just waiting for me to match it. I miss him tremendously. Ralph Waldo Emmerson, in the last work he published, wrote &#8220;It is not length of life, but depth of life.&#8221; John lived with more depth than anyone I&#8217;ve known.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will let everyone know when funeral arrangements have been made for anyone who wishes to pay their respects.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>As a result, the January Meeting will be adjourned from its regular location and resumed at 7PM at the NE Regional Library in the Purple Meeting Room.  If you wish to attend the meeting, that is where you should go.  No business will be conducted before the meeting resumes at 7PM at the NE Regional Library.  the NE Regional Library is located at 15 Bellevoir Cir, Louisville, KY 40223.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>On Sunday October 27th from approximately 5:00 &#8211; 5:15 PM parts of Bellemeade Rd and Woodcleft Road will be blocked for the Halloween Parade.  Please see the <a href=\"http:\/\/bellemeade-ky.gov\/?page_id=2133\">events<\/a> page for details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>**********<strong>NOTICE:&nbsp; <\/strong>Bellemeade City Commission shall conduct a<strong> Special Called Meeting<\/strong> at 107 North Chadwick Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40223, on September 16, 2019, at 6:00 pm for sole purpose of First Reading of a proposed change to the 2019 Tax Ordinance amending due and past due dates. &nbsp;&nbsp;<a>The Order of Business shall be devoted entirely to reading a proposed amendment into the Record without discussion at that time. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CITY\nOF BELLEMEADE, KENTUCKY<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ORDINANCE\nNO. 2019 &#8211; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 2019\n\u2013 7 ADOPTING THE JEFFERSON COUNTY, KENTUCKY, AD VALOREM TAX ASSESSMENT FOR THE\nCITY OF BELLEMEADE, KENTUCKY, AND THE LEVYING OF AN AD VALOREM TAX THEREON FOR\nCITY PURPOSES FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR JANUARY 1, 2019 TO DECEMBER 31, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WHEREAS<\/strong>, the Commission of the City of Bellemeade, Kentucky is\nauthorized and empowered to legislate as necessary and proper for the good of\nthe City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WHEREAS<\/strong>, pursuant\nto the provisions of the Kentucky Revised Statutes, the City of Bellemeade is\nauthorized for city tax purposes, to fix the tax levy and the due dates to levy\nand collect said taxes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE\nCITY OF BELLEMEADE:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That Ordinance Number 2019 \u2013 7, be\namended to read <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CITY\nOF BELLEMEADE, KENTUCKY<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ORDINANCE\nNO. 2019 &#8211; 7<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE JEFFERSON\nCOUNTY, KENTUCKY, AD VALOREM TAX ASSESSMENT FOR THE CITY OF BELLEMEADE,\nKENTUCKY, AND THE LEVYING OF AN AD VALOREM TAX THEREON FOR CITY PURPOSES FOR\nTHE CALENDAR YEAR JANUARY 1, 2019 TO DECEMBER 31, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whereas, pursuant to the provisions\nof the Kentucky Revised Statutes, the City of Bellemeade is authorized for city\ntax purposes, to fix the tax levy and the due dates to levy and collect said\ntaxes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE\nCITY OF BELLEMEADE:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Section\n1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; January 1, 2019, is hereby set as the\nassessment date for all property subject to city taxation within the boundaries\nfor the City of Bellemeade, Kentucky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Section\n2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The county assessment of the property situated\nwithin the City of Bellemeade, Kentucky, is hereby adopted as the City\nassessment for City and such ad valorem taxes as apply for the calendar year\nJanuary 1, 2019 through December 31, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Section\n3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The City Clerk is directed to obtain a true\ncopy of the county assessment of property within the corporate limits of\nBellemeade and cause tax bills to be made out therefrom &nbsp;and mail same in the month of September to\ncoincide approximately with the tax bill schedule of the Jefferson County\nSheriff\u2019s Office. Each bill shall show lot, total assessment of the real\nproperty and improvements, the name of the supposed owner, the ad valorem tax\nrate, and the total tax bill amount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Section\n4.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Upon delivery of such bills, the City\nTreasurer of Bellemeade shall have the responsibility of supervising the\ncollection of same. Collection of delinquent taxes shall be made in the manner\nprescribed by law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Section\n5.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The proceeds of such taxes are to be used for\nthe general operation purposes of the City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Section\n6.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The ad valorem tax rate for the calendar year\n2019&nbsp;shall be and is hereby fixed at seven and one tenth (7.1) cents per\n$100.00 valuation of the property as assessed for taxation. Construction materials and torn out shrubbery left behind by commercial contractors should NOT be placed out for collection.   We have a good contract with Rumpke and, unlike Metro and some other cities, we collect all waste every week rather than every other week or once a month. Let&#8217;s not abuse that contract and force Rumpke to abide by the letter of the contract.  Thank you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>************STREET PARKING:<\/strong>  Metro Ordinance states that vehicles parked on a street in a residential area must be parked in the direction of travel on that side of the street with all four wheels on the pavement within six inches of the edge of the pavement.  Do NOT park on the grass.  Vehicle may not park or idle within thirty feet of a stop sign or within four feet of a driveway.  <strong>O<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div>\n<p>*******<strong>YOUR ATTENTION IS NEEDED<\/strong>:&nbsp; Please do not dump debris,and yard waste into the drainage ditch west of the even numbered houses on South Hampton Road.
