A zoning change and large day care facility is being proposed on the corner of Whipps Mill Road and Old Whipps Mill Road. Drawings submitted by the developer can be accessed below.
While the proposal outlines expanded spaces for learning and childcare, the City of Bellemeade commission has concerns about placing the facility in this specific location. The intersection of Whipps Mill near North Whittington Pkwy is already becoming a high-traffic area during peak hours, and we are concerned that the addition of a high-volume daycare center could further increase congestion—especially during drop-off and pick-up times.
The proposed site is located within the City of Lyndon. The zoning process for the project will generally proceed as follows:
- Pre-application
- Plan Revision and Formal Filing
- Agency Review – Public Works, MSD, KYTC
- Land Development and Transportation Committee – PUBLIC MEETING
- Planning Commission – PUBLIC HEARING
- City of Lyndon – FINAL ACTION
It is important for individual citizens to make public comments at all phases of the process. If you are interested in this project, I would like to hear from you. (Both positive or negative). We want to ensure the public meetings reflect the voice and best interests of Bellemeade residents.
Please email Mayor James Martin at Mayor@bellemeade-ky.gov or call/text him at 502-489-0827. Thank you for your continued involvement in our community.
